Turkey’s largest mosque was completed in 1998. Built jointly by the Turkish Religious Foundation and the Sabanci Foundation, it is the only Turkish mosque other than Istanbul’s Blue Mosque to have six minarets. The vast structure, which can handle up to 28,500 people for prayer, can be seen from most parts of Adana. The main dome is 32 metres in diameter. Four of the minarets are 99 metres high, while the other two reach a height of 75 metres. Inside the prayer hall, Iznik tiles decorate four giant panels that are the biggest mosque panels in the world.
